Having recently watched the series Firefly, and having just yesterday
watched the last ever episode of Buffy
the Vampire Slayer in which Nathan Fallion plays (chillingly) the
supervillain Caleb, it’s time now to watch this, a spin-off of Firefly.
River, a rebellious girl who speaks out
against the meddling of the Federation in the outer planets, is imprisoned and
her mid is tampered with. Her brother Simon rescues her. They end up on Serenity, a semi-legal, semi-derelict
cargo spaceship, crewed by semi- bandit-but-good-at-heart Captain Mal and his
crew.
Same gang as in the series and time-wise
it seems to be after the series. There is a story (I guess) and a lot of action
and quick humour. It’s quite exciting. It’s fun to see the gang again. They’re
likeable but they’re not Buffy and Spike, Giles, Anya, Xander or Willow.
Now the questions. Do we want to
immediately watch 7 seasons of Buffy again starting now? Or do we want to watch
Firefly? Or is it time to move on?
